Faculty Spotlight – Ellen Blue
Meet Ellen Blue, Pfeiffer University’s Interim Director for the Office of Teaching, Learning, & Innovation, and Professor of Education. Blue has been teaching for 35 years and has been at Pfeiffer since 2018. She teaches Intro to Teaching, Student Teaching K-6 and K-12, and a First Year Seminar. Blue has always wanted to be a teacher. She says that she enjoyed all aspects of school and that she always loves learning something new and helping others learn new things.
When asked about what she would like her students to take away from her classes, Blue said, “I want to be an example of how learning is not only about the content. Building positive relationships with students and knowing how they learn best makes real learning happen.”
Blue was voted teacher of the year three times during her time at Badin Elementary and East Albemarle Elementary, was chosen as Stanly County Teacher of the Year, and was also chosen as the Stanly County Principal of the Year. In addition to her awards, Blue says that she feels very accomplished when she sees her students, current and former, being successful in school and life.
