- Bishop Leonard Fairley ’81 was assigned by the United Methodist Church, in September, as South Carolina’s new episcopal leader. He had served as the bishop of the Kentucky Annual Conference since September 2016. He had also served as interim bishop for the Raleigh Episcopal Area from September 2021 to September 2023. In addition to his Church service since 1984, he has published a book of poetry, “Who Shall Hear My Voice,” and was a contributing writer to “The Day the Earth Moved Haiti: From Havoc to Healing.”

- Roger Gore ’03 MBA continues toward his goal of playing 50 pickleball tournaments to promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He currently stands at 15 tournaments, 33 different tournament brackets, and 17 medals. In 2023, he played in the USA Pickleball National Championship Tournament for the 2nd year in a row and, hoping to win a national medal this year, has qualified to play in the 2024 tournament in November.

- Matt Roden ’16 MBAMHA has been named one of 40 Under 40 in 2024, by the Charlotte Business Journal. He is an Area Vice President for Community Engagement at Atrium Health. In the past year, he has helped build a strategic framework for enterprise community engagement as his organization expands into the Midwest Region. He serves on the board of directors for the City of Charlotte’s Community Relations Committee, the Latin American Coalition, Our Bridge 4 Kids, Charlotte Alliance YPs, and the Flywheel Health Equity Innovation Challenge.

- Jerry Shelby ’90 MBA received many accolades in 2023 for volunteer work to help his fellow citizens navigate life’s challenges. He was recognized for assisting 2,000 clients with Medicare and Social Security, during 15 years of service with SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program). He has advocated for senior citizen concerns through the NC Senior Tar Heel Legislature and taught driver safety classes through NC AARP, for 20 years. He is also the longest serving volunteer for the Centralina Area Agency on Aging (20 years), Salisbury/Rowan AARP Chapter (23 years), the Salisbury Senior Center (23 years), and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (10 years).
- Blake Martin ’08, ’15 MHA has been named Executive Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer at Monarch, a North Carolina behavioral health and support services provider. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Development for Flagship Healthcare Properties.
