Assessments and Testing
Undergraduate
All freshmen and transfer students are required to take the ETSPP entrance exam. All testing must be completed before the start of the semester.
Enrolled students who receive departmental approval are eligible to receive credit by challenge exams for specific Pfeiffer University courses. Competence gained through study and/or experience may provide background for students who wish to take these exams. Students seeking credit by examination must request written approval by their advisors. Students may take a special examination in a given course only once per academic year.
Students with experience in the armed forces may be eligible for certain college credit. Learn more here.
Adult students have likely gained personal and professional development outside the traditional academic classroom. Portfolio assessment enables students to translate these experiences into college credit. Up to 30 hours of credit may be awarded through the portfolio process and applied to the elective hour requirements in the undergraduate degree completion program.
All graduating seniors are required to complete the ETS Proficiency Profile (ETSPP) and a Major Field Test (MFT) for each major as applicable. Seat reservations are required for a Major Field Test (MFT) through the Office of the Registrar.
For those who miss senior testing, a $75 late fee will be charged for each missed test. To schedule make-up tests, contact Pfeiffer Testing at testing@pfeiffer.edu.
