Pfeiffer University’s Bachelor of Science in Environment and Sustainability Studies enables students to learn about the global environment, ecological interactions, and the role humans play in these interactions.

About the Program
For the bachelor of science in environment and sustainability studies, you’ll take a minimum of 56 semester hours of core courses in topics ranging from biodiversity to reconciliation ecology to digital mapping. You’ll then dive into one of four concentrations on which to focus your attention:

The Environment and Sustainability program brings together core liberal arts competencies and 56 semester hours in environment and sustainability. A concentration in either natural sciences, business, human aspects, or education is required to complete the program. Students in the program also take courses in business and communication in order to be as professionally prepared as possible. One-on-one research projects with professors are a hallmark of the environmental science program.
Hands-On Experience
The environmental science program brims with opportunities for real-world, hand-on learning like:
- Exploring hundreds of acres on campus that include early successional areas, a maturing forest, a creek, and Gibson Lake
- Observing ecological processes and learning about specific organisms
- Designing and conducting experiments to test your own hypotheses
